Dolphin Triton PS Pool Cleaner
With its bright yellow and black coloring, the Dolphin Triton PS robotic pool cleaner looks like a mini version of a roadside piece of machinery. It works hard like one, too, and it has earned a reputation of an aquatic workhorse. This frills-free robotic pool cleaner thrives on the dirtiest of pools, and its made of durable materials thatll keep up with your pools needs season after season. Here, we break down what your experience will look like as a pool owner if you decide to put the Triton PS to work for you.
First Impressions
The Triton PS weighs only 16.5 pounds, so its lightweight by most pool cleaner standards. It arrives pretty much ready to go, with no assembly required.
The multi-function power supply is simple to use, and all you have to do is plug it in. There is only one cleaning mode to choose from, so theres no fussing with learning the different modes and cleaning times. It can be awkward to decide where to keep the power supply, as it isnt weather proof and shouldnt be left out in the sun or elements.
As far as the look and feel of the Triton PS goes, it feels solid and sturdy. With a hard plastic outer shell, it wont get dinged up easily. The bristles of the front and back brushes are tough yet flexible, which comes in handy when its time for the Triton PS to show off its scrubbing abilities. It also has a 60-foot blue cable that connects to the power supply. There is no anti-tangle swivel, which we would have hoped for on this machine, espec

Hard-Working Out of the Box
Immediate Cleaning
Within minutes of unboxing the Triton PS, it was in the water and ready to go.
There was plenty of visible debris on the bottom of our 20x40 gunite pool. You name it twigs, dog hair, leaves, acorns, and grass clippings it was down there. As the Triton traversed the bottom of the pool, it picked up all of the debris we could see littering the surface. It even took care of settled sand and grass clippings that had accumulated in the shallow end.
After only half of the two-hour cleaning cycle, the water clarity was substantially improved.
Impressive Climbing
The Triton PS hugs the walls and waterline as it climbs. This is thanks in part to the PowerStream mobility, a drive system that uses the power from internal jets to propel the Triton PS in any direction it needs. Plus, the grips on the tread of the cleaner provide plenty of traction and help the Triton PS cling to surfaces, no matter how slippery.
As it approached the waterline, we were interested to see if the Triton PS actually made it well out of the water to actively scrub the tile coping. Lo and behold, it did. Rising nearly six inches above the waters surface, the Triton PS aggressively scrubbed the slippery tile coping without falling. It even scrubbed the small calcium buildup that had accumulated there.
Underwater steps and other underwater features are often challenging for robotic pool cleaners. The Triton PS struggled on the steps and tanning ledge of the pool we tested it in. It wasnt able to reach the top of the stairs and slipped backward on several attempts. It did some cleaning in this area, but its a trouble spot that would need to be manually brushed weekly in addition to using the Triton PS.
Top-Notch Filtration
Instead of the flimsy and tedious filter bags, the Triton PS uses a super-easy filter basket.
This top-loading basket is accessible from the top flap of the robot. When it opens up, the handle of the basket pops up as well. Just pull it up and out.
After one standard cleaning job, the Triton PS had captured enough debris to fill about half of the filter basket. Thats saying something, as the basket is remarkably large. It would take a lot of mess to actually fill it, which would make it excellent for extremely dirty pools (like after a storm or the beginning of pool season).
To clean it, just dump the debris and rinse the sides of the filter until they are white again. Our first run with the Triton PS brought back more large debris than we realized was in the pool, but the filters themselves didnt seem to trap a ton of small particles like dirt, sand, and algae.
Fortunately, the Triton PS comes with both a fine and ultra-fine filter basket. We used the standard fine filter initially, but we decided to throw it back into the pool with the ultra-fine filter to see what it could grab. Plus, snapping the filter panels together is simple.
After an hour of cleaning the pool with the ultra-fine filter basket, we paused the cleaning job and pulled the Triton PS back up. Once we cracked open the top of the cleaner, we could immediately see a difference in the color of the ultra-fine filters. They had obviously captured more small sediment than we knew was in the pool, and the panels were tinged a light brownish gray from scrubbing algae, dirt, sand, and silt. Again, we just had to rinse them clean and reinsert them.
As far as filtration systems go, this one really couldnt be more efficient or easier to maintain.
Pros of the Titan PS
Weekly Timer
The weekly timer capability on the multi-function power supply makes life easier. Just keep the robotic pool cleaner in your pool with a schedule set for once a day, every other day, or every three days. Its a small-but-noteworthy feature.
Cleans with the Best of Them
Like we said, the Titan PS is an aquatic workhorse. Maybe it wont travel up and over every tricky surface, but it will gobble up debris of all shapes and sizes. Plus, the scrubbing power isnt just for show. Those brushes worked overtime and scrubbed tedious calcium deposits from the waterline, which is hard to do even by hand.
Easy Maintenance
Taking care of the Titan PS is simple and straightforward. The only recurring maintenance it requires is cleaning the filters after each cleaning job, but even that is fast and easy. The durable parts are unlikely to need frequent fixing, and even if one does need replacing, Dolphin designed these robotic pool cleaners so pool owners can easily take care of regular maintenance without taking it into your pool supply store.
User Friendly
With one cleaning cycle to choose from, its hard to get tripped up trying to program the Triton PS. From the box to the pool, it requires little effort or technical know-how on your end.
Two-Year Warranty
Dolphin offers a two-year, limited warranty on the Triton PS when you purchase it from a certified dealer. It covers all parts except the brushes, tracks, and filters. If the warranty is important to you, be sure you research where you purchase your Triton PS. Its only valid if purchased from a certified dealer.
Cons of the Triton PS
Steps Are Tricky
Underwater stairs might be the Achilles heel for your Triton PS. While it climbed up most of the steps, it still slipped and fell several times. On top of that, it couldnt clean them as efficiently as it could the rest of the pool. Keep the pool brush handy, because there may be some spots you still need to use it.
Caddy Not Included
The Dolphin caddy is available for this model, but its not included with purchase. Averaging about $125 extra, its not an additional cost many pool owners will just say yes to. However, if you dont want to have to lug the robotic pool cleaner around and want to make storage and transportation easier, it might be an extra worth springing for.
Our Conclusion
All in all, the Dolphin Triton PS robotic pool cleaner is a solid machine that you wont regret purchasing.
It is free of frills that hold back its performance, and its durable construction means it can handle the big jobs for the long haul. Although it isnt perfect and has a few flaws to consider, it is the ideal robotic pool cleaner for the dirtiest of pools. If you live in an area where storms tend to ravage your pool or nearby trees drop in all sorts of flora, the Triton PS is the workhorse that can take on the job with endurance and efficiency. You may need to supplement its cleaning with a little elbow grease of your own, especially in the tricky areas, but thats nothing compared to the time, energy, and money youll save by outsourcing all that work to the Triton PS

Customer Reviews
How would you rate Dolphin Triton PS Pool Cleaner?*
Ease of use and does a great job!
This vacuum is easy to use, does a great job and blows the Polaris out of the water. (Pun intended)
Great robot
Awesome!! Does a fantastic job cleaning the pool.
works great!
I like the power and the climbing the walls!
Great pool cleaner!
Love it! It gets our pool sparkling clean in no time.
Actually performed like its advertised
We did the free trial and took home the more expensive one I did a bit of checking around online and went with the triton ps it out performed the other one hands down does everything it says it does the other one didnt very pleased with Ubo
Excellent
Great unit
Exactly what you need!!!
Cleans the floor and walls great! Awesome wall climber! Easy-to-clean collection basket catching large debris down to sand and dog hair. Works GREAT!!
Best one yet
We have had 3 cleaners before this and this one is truly the best. Runs every morning and I clean out once a week. 5 minute clean up. Only one minor complaint that the cable tangles up. Once a week I have to detangle.
good cleaning ability
I've always had a booster pump side cleaner. It is an inconvenience to have to manually clean with the electric cleaner. I do like the climbing and scrubbing action. I enjoy the large waste container, and it is easy to clean.
good product
Easy to empty the bag. cleans the walls just fine. good product.
Does as expected
Worked right out of box. No detail how to install fine filters had to call for explanation, good customer service
Very effective robotic cleaner and very easy to clean, compared to our previous Aquabot.
The Triton is amazing. Excellent cleaning effectiveness and ease of use. It arrives completely assembled and ready to use. Just plug it in and it does the job. The large basket filter system is an ingenious idea. So simple, compared to our Aquabot which was a nightmare to clean and put back together.
Keeps the pool clean!
Love this robot! We drop him in in the morning, in a couple hours all the leaves and dirt are sucked up! Has no trouble navigating some tricky angles where other pool robots have failed. Does a great job.
Keeps the pool clean without all the work!
Love this! Expensive but definitely worth every penny.
Perfect so far...
So much better than my last robo vac, and it was like $400 less, has all the features you need. So easy to empty and clean.
Better than the Tiger Shark
We have been thru two Tiger Sharks in the past 15 years and decided to try this brand/model. We are amazed at how clean our in-ground pool is-the old tiger sharks never cleaned this well. I cannot comment as to how long this will last but my initial review is positive!
Ease of cleaning
I am pleased with the ease of cleaning the debris out of the collection basket. This unit is much easier and lighter than the 2 robotic cleaners I had previously
Awesome robot for your open pool
We have an open pool that gets very dirty all the time. This little robot cleans very well and is hard working right out of the box. I don't know how it climbs the walls and our multiple steps, but it's amazing what it picks up. Highly recommend it.
Pool cleaning made simple
I dont know why everyone with a pool doesnt have one of these. Drop it in, turn it on, and walk away. Sometimes misses a spot, but nothing major. Living with dust storms in Phoenix this is a must have.
Automatic Robotic Pool Cleaner
Great Automatic Robotic Pool Cleaner sorry I waited so long to buy one, makes your life with a pool very enjoyable now, I been clean the pool the old ways for over 20 years, so again I hate I waited so long to buy one.
It's a must have.
We've spent about this same amount of money on 4 or 5 other vacuums for above ground pools. Decided to bite the bullet. Our water and floor has never been so clean. We love it. No more manual labor here.
Very happy so far!
I've only had this pool cleaner less than a week and I'm already very pleased with how well its working. I always relied on my pool cleaner to recommend different products for my pool and I was very unhappy with the pool cleaner he sold me about a year ago. After researching it myself, I now know why the other one didn't work very well. The Triton is easy to set up and I love the automatic cleaning schedule.
Exceeded my Expectations.
Prompt shipment. Great packaging! It works! Very well engineered. Easy to clean basket. The bottom drops open to drop out the leaves. Run the hose on it and drop the basket back in. It cleans the tile about 2 inches above the water line so fill the pool 1/2 way up the tile. Gets all of the pool and the steps. To take it out I guide it gently to the steps with the cord. Let it crawl to the top step wait until the water drains out then lift.
Love it!
Only have had it for a month but so far very pleased! Soooo much easier to empty basket compared to the Aquabot that this replaced. You can pull out the basket open the bottom of it rinse it with the hose and put it back in in a couple of minutes! Does a nice job on the pool too!
Works Well - Saves Time!
The Dolphin is working well in our in ground pool. We have run it 3 or 4 times now (had it a week) and the bottom of the pool is nice and clean. (Pool has only been open a week). Not sure why I didnt purchase one a long time ago! A real time saver.
Best pool cleaner I ever used
I almost didn't buy another Dolphin. I've been through two. However, the reviews were solid and I concur. Plus, I tried and returned another brand that simply wasn't worth the money. This model is easy, lightweight, programmable, and has a large debris capacity.
Best cleaner ever!
I received this cleaner 3 days ago and I am in love! No more getting squirted with water from the cleaner, no more auxiliary pump! This thing climbs the walls and steps, just set it and forget it. It scrubs the pool while cleaning all the debris, you will not be sorry if you purchase this item!
Love it, buy it
This is my first written review. On bigger purchases I always read the reviews to hopefully make the right decision. Fired my pool company in the spring to save on summer expenses, bought the Triton. So glad I spent the extra money on this model. I researched them all, was reluctant to spend this much. The Triton has been flawless. I run it everyday, clean out the filter box every two or three days. We have a motorized pool cover so not many leaves but it gets its fair share open all day. The fine filter cleans the settled dust and pollen, picks up all the leaves leaving the water and bottom clear as it could be. It covers every inch, runs up the sides and hits the water line really well. It trys on the steps but I dont expect a robot to clean those. Takes a minute to hit it with a broom, all good. Buy it, youll love it. Good luck in your shopping.
Nearly perfect pool cleaner
The Dolphin Triton PS is vastly superior to my old Polaris Sport. It's a mid-level Dolphin but it provides the most value for the money, in my opinion. I wish it came with the caddy, which I had to buy separately.
awesome
This thing is awesome. My pool has never been cleaner. It's not perfect, and it will NOT clean your whole pool at once. However, just clean the basket and put it back in while you sit poolside and drink... I like this thing because of the filter basket. We have a fair amount of tree leaves that find their way in and the basket works great. It's a little costly, but worth every penny!
Hubby loves it! Its a must have folks!
It climbs wonderfully, picks up the fine silt with ease, runs a great pattern, the filter cleaning is simple and it surpasses expectations. We couldnt be happier with our purchase and will make the summer pool struggles much less of an issue!
surpassed expectation
This is so easy to use. I replaced my in pool return line Polaris with this and can't believe I waited so long. Super easy to pop in, plug in to an outlet, clean out the popout basket. what a relief. No more bending down into the pool to connect my old cleaner to the return.
Lifesaver
This is a lifesaver. It was expensive, but it climbs the walls. It climbs the steps. It's way too easy to clean. I should've done this a long time ago.
Great Product
I have an in ground 20 x 40' pool directly below a line of pine trees and although this thing doesn't clean floating surface debris, it keeps the bottom of the pool pristine! I love this robot. It took me only a few minutes to read through the start up instructions and have it in the pool shortly after arrival. We had just opened the pool when it was delivered, so it ran about it's 2-ish hour cycle about 5 times the first day and you could see the paths it took in the scum at the bottom. If it's picking up scummy stuff the large basket won't get full, but the screen sides of the basket will get caked with the scum stuff. We hose the basket out after every cycle and pull pine needles out of the cracks and crevices of the robot, which is a small task considering it keeps the bottom of the pool, and water line and walls very clean. I've had it about 2 months now, running at least once daily (usually more since the jets it uses to move are helpful with mixing chemicals, although it's not recommended to be used like that), and we've had no issues with it. I bought the available warranty, but have not needed it.
Pool has never been cleaner
This thing cleaned our pool perfectly. We replaced a Polaris suction pool sweep that just wasnt doing the job. The triton climbed our walls and even scrubbed the tile. The ultra fine filters were able to pick up some extra D.E. that got into the pool, too. Something I wasnt expecting! Well worth the investment, I should have done it sooner.
Loving it so far!
I will never buy another cleaner that does not have the top loading filter. What a huge difference in how easy it is to clean. We have an uncovered pool, with palm and pine trees nearby that are always dropping things in the pool for this hungry little beast to eat. It gobbles them up with no problems, and the ultra-fine filters even help clean the residual algae and sand that blows in the pool in Florida. As long as it lasts a few seasons without any issue, this will have been a great investment.
Much better than the Dolphin Premier
I had a Dolphin Premier I never much liked...and it lasted less than two full years. I wanted to try another brand but none looked as good as the description for the Dolphin Triton PS model so that's what I ordered. Glad I did. It's far superior in every way to the Premier model. Better coverage of the entire pool. Much better at cleaning the sides and vertical surfaces...and most important to me (especially in the fall), holds way more leaves than the Premier did. It's a little cumbersome to clean but not too bad
What a wall climber!
Triton PS is everything promised in the solicitation. This smart robot is thorough and easy to use. Put it in the water, turn it on and it cleans the pool. Thats about as simple as it can get! Afterward, cleanup is simple and quick as the filter basket just pulls out and is easily hosed off. Goodbye to grungy filter bags that get stuck inside and are messy to clean. In about a minute youre ready to store the unit until next time.
Love love love it
Even goes up 2 out of 3 stairs. Guessing not enough water on top step. For those that find it cleans same spot over and over try putting vacuum in just a couple of feet away from where you usually do. Solved the problem for me. Named mine Rosie (like maid on the Jetsons). The best!!!
Exactly what we needed
I spent hours reading reviews for various robot pool cleaners and decided this was the perfect fit for our needs. I wanted something easy to operate and clean, and does a good job cleaning the walls and waterline. Plus I didn't want another wifi enabled gadget or add another app to my already crowded cell phone. This is super easy to operate, just hook the vacuum into the power unit, put the cleaner in the pool, push the power button, and that's it. Two hours later, I get it out and rinse the basket, super easy. The Triton does a great job cleaning, no more slimy pool bottoms and walls. It really keeps the waterline clean. Does ok on steps, and really super everywhere else. So happy with this purchase, love our little cleaner! It has saved us so much time, and the pool is always clean and ready to use.
The reviews had me worried!
I have struggled for many years as a single woman trying to keep my 15 x 30 in ground swimming pool clean. After extensive research, I came across this dolphin model pool cleaner. I was very hesitant to spend this amount of money on any vacuum system. Especially since, I just could not be sure would work. I finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase it. From the moment I got it out of the Box and plugged it in and literally threw it into my pool, I could not be happier. It's so easy to use. It works great. Getting it out of the pool to clean the basket is not an ordeal. I have trees in my yard, so I have heavy leaves. I live in Florida we recently had high winds from hurricane Dorian. I have not spent more than 20 minutes cleaning my pool since I bought this dolphin Triton. The basket is very easy to clean. The filters are easy to clean. It's not heavy for me to pull out of the pool to clean. It does an excellent job! I only wish that I would have spent the extra money to get the Bluetooth option so I could turn it on and off from my phone. However, pushing one button really isn't that difficult. This is a great product I would recommend it to anyone. Well worth the money!
Easy start up and easy basket cleaning. Keeps your pool Super clean..
This little machine is fantastic. Works like a charm. I thought my pool was relatively clean until I started using the Triton PS. This thing using the ultra fine filter gets everything. I live in a desert so fine particulate like sand and dust is an issue. Triton nails it. My pool has never looked so good. Its as easy as pressing 2 buttons and the cleaning of the filter basket is super simple. I consider this money well spent.
An excellent automatic robotic pool cleaner.
We read so many reviews on different robotic pool vacs. We were torn between this one and the Polaris f9450. We decided on this one because of the swivel cord. We have had it for a couple of months now and absolutely love it. It has a nice big chamber to collect leaves and debris. It came with two different types of filters. Our pool has never looked better. This little robovac is amazing.
Wonderful unit
I have had 2 robot cleaners and multiple suction side cleaners. This one by far does the best. My pool is an L shaped and approx 25k salt water. It comes with two sets of filters: use the coarse set for early cleaning and the finer mesh set for everyday use. I usually clean my pool twice each time if possible as this thing is not perfect and it does miss some areas but not a lot. I have seen it clean the walls for 20 ft without stopping and it's about 3 inches above water line when it does that. It picks up everything from Bobby pins to large oak leaves with no problems. Best part, is the clean up. It usually takes me no more than 5 minutes to clean which includes pulling unit out of pool, pulling filter out which is super easy. I then spray the unit off with garden hose and then a good rinse of filter box, let air dry for a bit, then put in plastic deck box. The cord never gets tangled and is plenty long enough for a 38x26x18 size pool and being 7foot on the deep end. My pool is a liner pool and I would buy another one without hesitation but I didnt buy the blue tooth flavor as I could not justify the cost.
Its worth it!
I waited a while to write this, so I could see it in action over a few months. This little thing is worth every penny! It gets all the debris out of the pool that it comes across. Very easy to maintain, filters are easy to clean. Dont get it twisted....this little robot will not let you be 100% lazy. Yes it climbs the walls/steps with ease, it will gather debris off the walls, however you still have to wipe the pool edge down to get the ring around the collar off. I use a magic eraser for that. I have seating areas in my pool and the little robot is to wide in the hips to get the debris off, so I just swipe over the top with my pool net and that debris goes to the bottom where the robot can get to it. All in all, I am amazed at how well this thing gathers everything it can get too.
Works well without problems others have had
I decided on the Dolphin Triton PS and bought it. Most pool robots have ratings of 3.8 - 4.1 and each one had reviews that were great and others than showed problems and because of this I had a difficult time deciding which to purchase. I've used my Dolphin Triton twice now. It has done well. It climbs the walls easily and scrubs the waterline. The cable does not tangle (several reviews indicated that this has been a problem). It will climb stairs but the stairs are more narrow than the length of the robot so it really isn't able to clean them well. Similarly, the ledge for in-pool seating gets cleaned but not as well as the rest of the pool because of the width of the ledge. I will probably try the manual mode using the app. At first I was unable to register the device because the Maytronics system did not recognize the serial number. I contacted both the seller and Maytronics. Both responded within a few days. Turns out the 0 in the middle of 4 letters was a zero and not a capital "o". It is now registered. I'm pleased so far. This robot is fairly light and easy to handle. In the water it has almost neutral buoyancy when off so you can easily raise it to near the surface, then pick it up by the handle.
Very happy so far!
Like most of you, I researched and researched which model to buy. Our older model Dolphin DX3 died, and there were some things I hoped to improve on with a new purchase. The old machine used to occasionally get stuck in the corners of our lazy L shaped pool with a liner. Though it cleaned well, it seemed to scrub a little too much in some places and eventually left faded scrub marks on the liner. An important feature of the Triton PS for us are the side jets that prevent the machine from getting stuck and keep it moving freely as it cleans. The easy top load access and the swivel cord were also important. We demo'd a couple of more expensive models and they did not climb the walls of the deep end of our pool. Seems the angle from the bottom to mid way up the wall confused them - none would climb all the way to the waterline. The Triton PS has not had that issue! It has done great! It scrubs up to the waterline and picks up leaves and small sticks on the bottom. It's a great machine for those who do not care about an app or steering the machine. We are happy with the once a day option or just pushing a button if we want it to run again.. It does very well. If this machine lasts for more than a few years i'll be very happy. It has exceeded my expectations so far and was one of the less expensive models.
Very nice machine. Glad I bought this model.
I have an in ground plaster pool about 30 by 25 feet free form. I have used the Triton for 4 one hour cycles and each time it has cleaned the floor and walls pretty well. Emptying the collection basket is super easy, as is rinsing the filter screens. The cord had not become tangled or twisted. It also is able to climb up to the shallow shelf and clean that. Was concerned it would not be able to climb walls and steps but it has been great doing this. The water jets really do seem to press the unit against the walls when it climbs. When at the top of the wall it hovers there for a short while scrubbing the trim tile. Really nice. We also have a Poolfergnoogan (Spelling) suction side cleaner for the normal day to day cleaning. The Triton puts the debris into its collection basket rather than into the pool pumps strainer. So it keeps the pump running longer between servicing.
Very Impressed - Really like this robot
I bought the Triton Plus with PowerStream. I used to have another pool robot that just sucked water and didn't have the sweeper. I paid around $500 for it years ago and it was a pain in the butt. It was hard to clean the filter (had a bag that you had to fit around 2 metal bars), it would often only do half of the pool, rarely climbed the walls, etc.. The motor broke after about 2.5 years and cleaned the pool myself for about a year or so. Finally decided to buy this robot after trying to learn about different models and brands (different for brick and mortar vs online). Even though I paid almost twice as much for this robot, I have to say that I am very impressed. It cleans the whole pool every time, it climbs the walls and scrubs the water line, the filter is super easy to clean (just pull from top and spray with hose...kinda like a pool fitler). I haven't used the bluetooth app yet so no comment. The only negatives so far is that it doesn't by default come with a caddy, and even though it has climbed the stairs of my pool I still have to sweep the stairs prior to running the unit.
Excellent | Glad to Have Purchased this
Over the years, we have gone through several types of pool cleaners. Most would get clogged easily, clog the filters, etc. then we hired a pool service charging $200 per month. Looking for another option! This was our first purchase of a robotic pool cleaner and we LOVE it. Throw it in the pool and 2 hours later, the pool is spotless....do that once or twice a week and we are good to go. Also, love that is scrubs the walls and steps! The first time we ran it, it picked up things that we did not even see. The best thing is that we don't have to go through the laborious task of cleaning pool filters as often.
... have a large pool and lots of trees that like to feed it
We have a large pool and lots of trees that like to feed it. Bought this after some research and its awesome. Cleans the thing great, including the walls and entry stairs. The only problem it seems to have is with the corners on the deep end... I think it's to large to handle them well. I brush them down once a week and all is well. Easy to clean too! I would buy this again.
Great Tech leap from my old robots.
I have used these robots for 15 years. This is the nicest tech jump by far. The top loading basket makes cleaning it out SOOOOO much easier. The changeable filter to mesh panels are really cooly. Having the mesh for heavy clean up has been great. I have not used the filter panels yet, but I am jazzed about this little guy so far. p.s. I am a tech cynic after working in development for 15 years, but I have to say this is a nice design and the powerstream which I expected to be junk to up sale the product actually functions well. It is cool to watch the powerstream "thrusters" kick in and move the robot.
Great cleaner for a deep free-form pool with built-in benches
Our pool is over 10 feet deep and it has two built in benches and a sun deck. This guys cleans it all. We have been longtime owners of an older model dolphin cleaner which lasted nearly 5 years. We were hoping to replace our old mobi (thats what we call him) with an upgrade that we could count on. Weve had our new mobi for about a month now and we love him. This cleaner spends a lot more time in the tile line and the jets on the side help blow off areas around the tile area hes working on. The new programmable control box has really made life easier and he comes on and gets to work everyday or every other day right on time. We have two evil trees on either end of our pool but he gobbles up all of the debri with ease. The top load huge basket has made life easier too. The basket has a drop bottom so we can easily compost the debri he gathers then just spray off the screens. We use the spring cleanup screens to get the big debri and once the leaves and seeds stop falling we switch to the corrugated cartridges. And man! Does he hug the walls and floor! Our old mini would fall down the wall. So far, hes better than expected. The cord does tend to get a little twist in it after a couple uses but it is easy to unwind and weve found that if you limit his cable to just what he needs this is a minimal occurrence. We are happy with our purchase. The money we spent was worth the peace of mind!
Work horse
This is by far the best pool cleaner I have ever purchased. I highly recommend these cleaners to anyone interested in a complete and thorough job.
We love our Dolphin Triton PS
The dolphin Triton PS is the first/only pool cleaner we have used (first time pool owner) and we love it. We have lots of leaves and are pretty sure we would hate the pool if it were not for the Dolphin.
Good cleaner but not good value
Results are very good but I had similsr results with my previous cleaner which was much less expensive than the Triton.
Dolphin Triton PS Automatic pool cleaner
Cleans beautifully. My husband loves it.
Pool cleaner
Thing I like, its cleans very well! The water line, sides of the pool! Things I dont like its heavy when talking it out of the pool and the cords gets a little tangled.
Easy to use!
It is very easy to use and does a good job of cleaning the small particles but it has a hard time picking up large leaves . Overall I am very pleased with the performance and we only use it every 3- 4 days and the pool stays very clean, Were we had a Polaris an we had to have it on daily. We have only had it a month so hopefully it will last for several summers.
Great cleaner for the money. The easiest one to clean that I've owned.
When I first placed the robot into my pool, it was just so-so as far, as pool cleaners go, and it wouldn't climb the sides. After a complete cycle, the robot apparently "broke in" like a pair of shoes. It now climbs, cleans and makes pool maintenance so much easier!
This worked much better than my old Polaris with booster pump
This worked much better than my old Polaris with booster pump. It climbs walls and gets most areas of the pool. I still have to brush the top step and a few areas where the plaster bottom meets the vertical fiberglass walls. Much less than I was doing before. The fine filter gets the dirt and dust, but not the heavier granules that wash in from my composite shingles after a heavy rain. The normal filters don't get the fine dust and dirt, so I have to change them after it rains. The Amazon description said there was a $50 rebate when I bought mine, which was not accurate. I see they have corrected that now.
So far so good
So far this little robot is doing what its meant to do. Its even showing off by climbing through walls. I havent seen it clean the steps yet though (hence minus 1 star). The feel and look of this particular model is of great quality. Everyone in the household enjoyed watching this little thing do its job. It was so easy to operate and does what is expected.
Omg! Why did we waited so long to buy this? Great economical working pool cleaning robot
Works like a charm after several days of hardwork for the opening of the pool. This is very good value for our 25000 gallons pool. It is a bit slow but the scrubbing power is excellent. After using for two months we found the disadvantage is it cannot be programmed to go in a specific pattern path to clean and scrub. It kind of go in a random route. Our pool is a Gracian with 14 angular shaped with 3 steps. I have to briefly sweep the steps and deep angles turns area every morning to avoid more bags of shocks to clear the algae. If we have to look for a manual remote controlled cleaning dolphin we have to upgrade to a Dolphin Oasis model that is 500 dollars more.
Adequate but not as good as our old Dophin D3.
I like the design & I love how easy the basket is to take out and clean...much better than the old cloth inserts. However, it misses a lot of spots in our large rectangular pool. Even with the filters in for the finer dirt and sand we still have several places in our pool that have dirt on the floor & walls even after I run it for two cleaning cycles. It's not horrible, but it's definitely not as good as our older Dolphin D3 that died after six years.
Nice unit but old inventory
Was sent an older model that didnt have a swivel. The seller arranged for a partial credit. I like the unit and it does a good job. Make sure that the cable is straight before putting in the pool.
Really good product
I had just opened the pool a week before Memorial Day and it was green, been there before and know what it takes to clean. While I was running the pump and putting the chemicals in I knew in the end I have to clean the bottom of the pool from the algae but I got the Dolphin cleaner and ran it 6-7 times cleaning out the basket each time and was so pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. Now I have the finer filter in and run it three times a week and wow! Its great.
Better than my Polaris, but not magic
My Polaris 280 is such a pain to tune, I haven't been able to get it out of the deep end for the past year despite new wheels and bearings. As you might imagine, the shallow end is gross and covered with algae and leaves from the winter. This robot plows right through the scum and picks up... some of it. It is not filling the basket the way the Polaris could fill its bag with leaves, but it is scrubbing the floor clean and covering 80-90% of the pool with each run. Using just the coarse filters I'm getting about an inch of algae scum and some leaves with each 3 hour cycle. More importantly, it's stirring up the scum so the pool filter can do some work cleaning the water. I don't hate it, but it's not as great as I was led to believe. It is a vast improvement over the Polaris for coverage however. It does lose power pretty quickly as it gets clogged. For a super dirty pool like mine, it would probably be better to clean the basket out every hour instead of every three. It also jams up the turbine pretty easily with hair (my dogs like the pool). I've had to remove hairballs from the turbine after every two passes (my pool is really dirty). Cleaning out the turbine is easy, just two stainless steel screws to remove and then everything else unclips with your fingers. I do worry about cross-threading those screws in the plastic so be careful putting them back in. Once the turbine and basket are cleaned it climbs the walls like new again. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and have run it about eight times in the last couple days trying to get my pool ready for summer.
Hard Working Fella.
I had an older model of Maytronics Dolphin robotic pool cleaner with a filter bag. That bag was really hard to clean. This new model came with major improvement: removable filter basket. Cleaning this robot is no longer a huge task taking more time than cleaning the pool itself. Washing filters is now a breeze. And this might be the single best feature of this robotic pool cleaner. Cleaner comes with 2 sets of removable filters: fine (plastic mesh) and superfine (pleated filter, similar to HEPA
vacuum filter). Fine filter is good enough to pickup smallest debris from your pool. It just can's keep dust and finest powder left after chlorinating the pool. So when you need to clean your pool from leafs, buds, flowers, bugs, etc. fine filter will do a good job. For crystal clear results you will need a superfine filter set. That one picks up even the fine dust from the bottom of your pool. And as I already mentioned, after you remove your robot from the pool, you just need to open the top cover, remove the filter basket with all debris picked up by the cleaner, detach those filters and rinse them with water. Also, unlike the older model, new Triton does not spit picked up debris back into the pool. This was a big problem for the old model. Now commenting on negative reviews here. Those guys are probably right. This robotic cleaner is not perfect. My pool is relatively small and shallow and it has a non-standard curvy shape. And even I have to agree with some other guys here: Triton may skip an area during its 2 hours cleaning cycle. It does not have a well setup cleaning pattern, so some areas are cleaned multiple times, while others may be skipped. It does not clean curvy areas well and gets confused by curved walls. It does climb walls and scrubs the waterline, but while on the curve that is pretty useless, since its brush doesn't even reach curved wall. So if your pool is big and mostly curved, it might be difficult for this robot to clean it well. Also if you are expecting a perfect result from this little guy, you may be disappointed. But there is one important thing: it works while you enjoy a beer and a football game on your TV. And you can't beat that. If you are not 100% happy with the result of its original cleaning, throw him back into the pool. He's not tired and won't charge you overtime. So it may take 4 hours before you see your pool perfectly clean, but it won't be your 4 hours. And that is what I love the most about this robot
Love the basket just doesnt stay running long enough to clean pool
I am returning Triton today. Would only run for 15-25 minutes and then shut off. Would not clean entire pool. I did love the large easy to clean basket. Just wish it would have ran long enough to clean pool.
Works well. Prob prefer upgraded model.
Cleans three times a week max with this model. No fast clean mode with this model. It does climb the sides well. Its ok.
A little disappointed
The cleaner stopped several times and had to be restarted. Each time only cleaning aboa third of the pool
Just buy the cart when you purchase the unit
Bought this to replace a worn-out pool-pump associated robot. This unit was very pricey so I had big expectations as a result. It delivers speed and suction. The pool looks good in 1-2 hours. It is easy to use as well. It lost a star for not having the cart with it. The unit technically operates without a cart and you can store it upside down between uses BUT since you can't leave it in the sun or on the ground unless upside down (with something under it unless you want the top scratched) and there's a long cord and the unit itself is heavy, most people who can afford this unit will not fool with the aggravation of not having a cart long-term to save $100. It lost a second star for not doing a good job on corners or where the pool bottom meets the sidewalls - I have to brush those now and the old unit did not leave that.
Works okay...
Got this just under two weeks ago and have been running it every few days. We have a fairly small rectangular fiberglass pool, about 16,000 gallons. This vacuum gets the pool cleaner, but often misses leaves at the bottom and other debris. Still better than manually vacuuming, but a little disappointed. The feedback and instructions on setting up the programming also is a bit lacking. I know this can be programmed to run daily, every other day, or every three days (and that's it, with no connection to bluetooth or any other programming), and it still seems to miss plenty of stuff on the pool (which is usually pretty clean to start with). It also recommends not to leave the robot in the pool while adding chemicals or while swimming, so the auto-programming every few days doesn't make a ton of sense. Lastly, the control unit states it's not waterproof, so I don't like to leave it outside where it can get rained on, which also seems like a bit of a poor design. I don't plan to submerge it, but at least having it water resistant and seriously splash proof would be suggested. I wonder if others just say screw it and leave it outside and connected all the time.
Cleans great
I purchased my Dolphin on Amazon and received it March 19,2019 opened my pool April 27th used for 2 cleaning cycles and the cleaner stopped I thought it was finished unplugged and stored the power box in the dry. The next day when I went to use my cleaner the power box would not come on. I tested the outlet to make sure the box was getting power and it was. I have emailed tech support twice with no response. Over all the dolphin cleaned well, easy to empty I am a returning dolphin customer but not being able to reach someone and get a reply is frustrating. I have even searched the website to troubleshoot with no luck. For the price you have to pay you might want to think about looking into some other pool cleaning device if getting a return reply on a question is this hard.
How do I get service? Or a new unit after only 8 uses it doesnt turn on.
My maytronics unit cut off after using about 8 times. Cant figure out how to get in touch with the company for repairs. I liked the product but not happy that it no longer works. Help!
Disappointed!
Did not clean in the corners of pool. So we returned and bought the Dolphin Nautilus. It does a much better job and costs less.
Pool cleaner
Giving a 2 because they cord does tangle up and twist together. Its aggravating!
Not impressed
My Polaris worked better. We paid a lot for this to replace our old Polaris and it doesnt pick up half as much. It can run for hours and only gets about a quarter full of that. I am very disappointed especially at this price.
A good cleaner, some new options are awesome, but lacks control and tanglefree cord - upgrade and save the headaches.
Trying to replace my first Dolphin, I ordered this unit by mistake. It only has one option to clean: setup weekly cleaning 3, 4 or 7 times a week. You cannot control the unit. No quick clean, no regular clean etc. The instructions mention all the features you don't get. The cord tangles with each use. The unit does not clean the spa, except for the floor, not the seat. If you try to call customer service, they only keep East Coast hours and NEVER return your call. After a week, I finally got an email, answering 1 of 4 questions. Very annoying. There are features that are awesome: quick drain (unlike last unit that dumped all the dirt back in the pool, this one quickly empties and retains the dirt), the top-loading basket (retains dirt, easy to rinse out and you don't have to turn it upside-down to empty) and super light (anyone in the family can easily remove from the pool). I returned this unit for the PS PLUS to get all the options my 3 year old unit had.
Very dissapointing, don't waste your money.
This is a big step down from the older models. It's supposed to be an improvement but it falls way short. The antitangle algorithm is utter nonsense. The power cable gets tangled within a few days of having it in the pool. The older model with the antitwist device in the cable was far superior. I have to detangle the cable weekly. It's a massive pain. This machine will also get caught on the bottom drain. The older machine never had that problem. This review would be a one start if not for the larger top loading filter and the fact that it doesn't drain dirty water back into the pool when you pull it out of the water. Overall very disappointing. Don't waste your money.
Worked one time
This is a beautiful robotic cleaner. It vacuums extremely well when it works. Mine worked one time and now it wont turn on. Dropped it off at my local pool company today for diagnostics. Remains to be seen what it will cost me to get my brand new equipment working again. I bought it off season and didnt open it for 6 months so now it is too late to simply return it for replacement/refund.
