Head To Head Review Analysis

All in all, the Dolphin Triton PS robotic pool cleaner is a solid machine that you won’t regret purchasing. It is free of frills that hold back its performance, and its durable construction means it can handle the big jobs for the long haul. Although it isn’t perfect and has a few flaws to consider, it is the ideal robotic pool cleaner for the dirtiest of pools. If you live in an area where storms tend to ravage your pool or nearby trees drop in all sorts of flora, the Triton PS is the workhorse that can take on the job with endurance and efficiency. You may need to supplement its cleaning with a little elbow grease of your own, especially in the tricky areas, but that’s nothing compared to the time, energy, and money you’ll save by outsourcing all that work to the Triton PS.

The Triton PS Plus is an excellent robotic pool cleaner. It’ll save you time, money, and energy (both physically and electrically – it costs about 5 cents an hour to operate). It can climb all the way to waterlines with precision, and it leaves pools sparkling clean even without reaching some underwater obstacles like steps. Plus, the filtration system is among the best we’ve seen on the market today. However, the deciding point lies with the Bluetooth navigation and extra cleaning modes. The MyDolphin app continues to improve, but it’s still far from perfect. Manually driving the Triton PS Plus via Bluetooth takes time and can be frustrating, but for some pool owners, having the power to spot clean at any time is an important feature. If that kind of smart technology is important to you, the Triton PS Plus is worth considering.

Best one yet

We have had 3 cleaners before this and this one is truly the best. Runs every morning and I clean out once a week. 5 minute clean up. Only one minor complaint that the cable tangles up. Once a week I have to detangle.

I've always had a booster pump side cleaner. It is an inconvenience to have to manually clean with the electric cleaner. I do like the climbing and scrubbing action. I enjoy the large waste container, and it is easy to clean.

Very effective robotic cleaner and very easy to clean, compared to our previous Aquabot.

Sam Hamilton -

The Triton is amazing. Excellent cleaning effectiveness and ease of use. It arrives completely assembled and ready to use. Just plug it in and it does the job. The large basket filter system is an ingenious idea. So simple, compared to our Aquabot which was a nightmare to clean and put back together.

Better than the Tiger Shark

We have been thru two Tiger Sharks in the past 15 years and decided to try this brand/model. We are amazed at how clean our in-ground pool is-the old tiger sharks never cleaned this well. I cannot comment as to how long this will last but my initial review is positive!

Awesome robot for your open pool

We have an open pool that gets very dirty all the time. This little robot cleans very well and is hard working right out of the box. I don't know how it climbs the walls and our multiple steps, but it's amazing what it picks up. Highly recommend it.

EK -

I've only had this pool cleaner less than a week and I'm already very pleased with how well its working. I always relied on my pool cleaner to recommend different products for my pool and I was very unhappy with the pool cleaner he sold me about a year ago. After researching it myself, I now know why the other one didn't work very well. The Triton is easy to set up and I love the automatic cleaning schedule.

Exceeded my Expectations.

Prompt shipment. Great packaging! It works! Very well engineered. Easy to clean basket. The bottom drops open to drop out the leaves. Run the hose on it and drop the basket back in. It cleans the tile about 2 inches above the water line so fill the pool 1/2 way up the tile. Gets all of the pool and the steps. To take it out I guide it gently to the steps with the cord. Let it crawl to the top step wait until the water drains out then lift.

Only have had it for a month but so far very pleased! Soooo much easier to empty basket compared to the Aquabot that this replaced. You can pull out the basket open the bottom of it rinse it with the hose and put it back in in a couple of minutes! Does a nice job on the pool too!

The Dolphin is working well in our in ground pool. We have run it 3 or 4 times now (had it a week) and the bottom of the pool is nice and clean. (Pool has only been open a week). Not sure why I didn’t purchase one a long time ago! A real time saver.

I almost didn't buy another Dolphin. I've been through two. However, the reviews were solid and I concur. Plus, I tried and returned another brand that simply wasn't worth the money. This model is easy, lightweight, programmable, and has a large debris capacity.

I received this cleaner 3 days ago and I am in love! No more getting squirted with water from the cleaner, no more auxiliary pump! This thing climbs the walls and steps, just set it and forget it. It scrubs the pool while cleaning all the debris, you will not be sorry if you purchase this item!

Love it, buy it

LIS -

This is my first written review. On bigger purchases I always read the reviews to hopefully make the right decision. Fired my pool company in the spring to save on summer expenses, bought the Triton. So glad I spent the extra money on this model. I researched them all, was reluctant to spend this much. The Triton has been flawless. I run it everyday, clean out the filter box every two or three days. We have a motorized pool cover so not many leaves but it gets its fair share open all day. The fine filter cleans the settled dust and pollen, picks up all the leaves leaving the water and bottom clear as it could be. It covers every inch, runs up the sides and hits the water line really well. It try’s on the steps but I don’t expect a robot to clean those. Takes a minute to hit it with a broom, all good. Buy it, you’ll love it. Good luck in your shopping.

Nearly perfect pool cleaner

The Dolphin Triton PS is vastly superior to my old Polaris Sport. It's a mid-level Dolphin but it provides the most value for the money, in my opinion. I wish it came with the caddy, which I had to buy separately.

awesome

EC -

This thing is awesome. My pool has never been cleaner. It's not perfect, and it will NOT clean your whole pool at once. However, just clean the basket and put it back in while you sit poolside and drink... I like this thing because of the filter basket. We have a fair amount of tree leaves that find their way in and the basket works great. It's a little costly, but worth every penny!

Great Product

Erin -

I have an in ground 20 x 40' pool directly below a line of pine trees and although this thing doesn't clean floating surface debris, it keeps the bottom of the pool pristine! I love this robot. It took me only a few minutes to read through the start up instructions and have it in the pool shortly after arrival. We had just opened the pool when it was delivered, so it ran about it's 2-ish hour cycle about 5 times the first day and you could see the paths it took in the scum at the bottom. If it's picking up scummy stuff the large basket won't get full, but the screen sides of the basket will get caked with the scum stuff. We hose the basket out after every cycle and pull pine needles out of the cracks and crevices of the robot, which is a small task considering it keeps the bottom of the pool, and water line and walls very clean. I've had it about 2 months now, running at least once daily (usually more since the jets it uses to move are helpful with mixing chemicals, although it's not recommended to be used like that), and we've had no issues with it. I bought the available warranty, but have not needed it.

Pool has never been cleaner

Soragamii -

This thing cleaned our pool perfectly. We replaced a Polaris suction pool sweep that just wasn’t doing the job. The triton climbed our walls and even scrubbed the tile. The ultra fine filters were able to pick up some extra D.E. that got into the pool, too. Something I wasn’t expecting! Well worth the investment, I should have done it sooner.

Loving it so far!

Orlando S -

I will never buy another cleaner that does not have the top loading filter. What a huge difference in how easy it is to clean. We have an uncovered pool, with palm and pine trees nearby that are always dropping things in the pool for this hungry little beast to eat. It gobbles them up with no problems, and the ultra-fine filters even help clean the residual algae and sand that blows in the pool in Florida. As long as it lasts a few seasons without any issue, this will have been a great investment.

Much better than the Dolphin Premier

KH -

I had a Dolphin Premier I never much liked...and it lasted less than two full years. I wanted to try another brand but none looked as good as the description for the Dolphin Triton PS model so that's what I ordered. Glad I did. It's far superior in every way to the Premier model. Better coverage of the entire pool. Much better at cleaning the sides and vertical surfaces...and most important to me (especially in the fall), holds way more leaves than the Premier did. It's a little cumbersome to clean but not too bad

What a wall climber!

Travis P. -

Triton PS is everything promised in the solicitation. This “smart” robot is thorough and easy to use. Put it in the water, turn it on and it cleans the pool. That’s about as simple as it can get! Afterward, cleanup is simple and quick as the filter basket just pulls out and is easily hosed off. Goodbye to grungy filter bags that get stuck inside and are messy to clean. In about a minute you’re ready to store the unit until next time.

Even goes up 2 out of 3 stairs. Guessing not enough water on top step. For those that find it cleans same spot over and over try putting vacuum in just a couple of feet away from where you usually do. Solved the problem for me. Named mine Rosie (like maid on the Jetsons). The best!!!

Exactly what we needed

T.J. -

I spent hours reading reviews for various robot pool cleaners and decided this was the perfect fit for our needs. I wanted something easy to operate and clean, and does a good job cleaning the walls and waterline. Plus I didn't want another wifi enabled gadget or add another app to my already crowded cell phone. This is super easy to operate, just hook the vacuum into the power unit, put the cleaner in the pool, push the power button, and that's it. Two hours later, I get it out and rinse the basket, super easy. The Triton does a great job cleaning, no more slimy pool bottoms and walls. It really keeps the waterline clean. Does ok on steps, and really super everywhere else. So happy with this purchase, love our little cleaner! It has saved us so much time, and the pool is always clean and ready to use.

The reviews had me worried!

Sue Mosley -

I have struggled for many years as a single woman trying to keep my 15 x 30 in ground swimming pool clean. After extensive research, I came across this dolphin model pool cleaner. I was very hesitant to spend this amount of money on any vacuum system. Especially since, I just could not be sure would work. I finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase it. From the moment I got it out of the Box and plugged it in and literally threw it into my pool, I could not be happier. It's so easy to use. It works great. Getting it out of the pool to clean the basket is not an ordeal. I have trees in my yard, so I have heavy leaves. I live in Florida we recently had high winds from hurricane Dorian. I have not spent more than 20 minutes cleaning my pool since I bought this dolphin Triton. The basket is very easy to clean. The filters are easy to clean. It's not heavy for me to pull out of the pool to clean. It does an excellent job! I only wish that I would have spent the extra money to get the Bluetooth option so I could turn it on and off from my phone. However, pushing one button really isn't that difficult. This is a great product I would recommend it to anyone. Well worth the money!

Easy start up and easy basket cleaning. Keeps your pool Super clean..

WR -

This little machine is fantastic. Works like a charm. I thought my pool was relatively clean until I started using the Triton PS. This thing using the ultra fine filter gets everything. I live in a desert so fine particulate like sand and dust is an issue. Triton nails it. My pool has never looked so good. Its as easy as pressing 2 buttons and the cleaning of the filter basket is super simple. I consider this money well spent.

An excellent automatic robotic pool cleaner.

SG -

We read so many reviews on different robotic pool vacs. We were torn between this one and the Polaris f9450. We decided on this one because of the swivel cord. We have had it for a couple of months now and absolutely love it. It has a nice big chamber to collect leaves and debris. It came with two different types of filters. Our pool has never looked better. This little robovac is amazing.

Wonderful unit

R. Carr -

I have had 2 robot cleaners and multiple suction side cleaners. This one by far does the best. My pool is an L shaped and approx 25k salt water. It comes with two sets of filters: use the coarse set for early cleaning and the finer mesh set for everyday use. I usually clean my pool twice each time if possible as this thing is not perfect and it does miss some areas but not a lot. I have seen it clean the walls for 20 ft without stopping and it's about 3 inches above water line when it does that. It picks up everything from Bobby pins to large oak leaves with no problems. Best part, is the clean up. It usually takes me no more than 5 minutes to clean which includes pulling unit out of pool, pulling filter out which is super easy. I then spray the unit off with garden hose and then a good rinse of filter box, let air dry for a bit, then put in plastic deck box. The cord never gets tangled and is plenty long enough for a 38x26x18 size pool and being 7foot on the deep end. My pool is a liner pool and I would buy another one without hesitation but I didnt buy the blue tooth flavor as I could not justify the cost.

It’s worth it!

D. Harris -

I waited a while to write this, so I could see it in action over a few months. This little thing is worth every penny! It gets all the debris out of the pool that it comes across. Very easy to maintain, filters are easy to clean. Don’t get it twisted....this little robot will not let you be 100% lazy. Yes it climbs the walls/steps with ease, it will gather debris off the walls, however you still have to wipe the pool edge down to get the “ring around the collar” off. I use a magic eraser for that. I have seating areas in my pool and the little robot is to wide in the hips to get the debris off, so I just swipe over the top with my pool net and that debris goes to the bottom where the robot can get to it. All in all, I am amazed at how well this thing gathers everything it can get too.

Works well without problems others have had

RL Posey -

I decided on the Dolphin Triton PS and bought it. Most pool robots have ratings of 3.8 - 4.1 and each one had reviews that were great and others than showed problems and because of this I had a difficult time deciding which to purchase. I've used my Dolphin Triton twice now. It has done well. It climbs the walls easily and scrubs the waterline. The cable does not tangle (several reviews indicated that this has been a problem). It will climb stairs but the stairs are more narrow than the length of the robot so it really isn't able to clean them well. Similarly, the ledge for in-pool seating gets cleaned but not as well as the rest of the pool because of the width of the ledge. I will probably try the manual mode using the app. At first I was unable to register the device because the Maytronics system did not recognize the serial number. I contacted both the seller and Maytronics. Both responded within a few days. Turns out the 0 in the middle of 4 letters was a zero and not a capital "o". It is now registered. I'm pleased so far. This robot is fairly light and easy to handle. In the water it has almost neutral buoyancy when off so you can easily raise it to near the surface, then pick it up by the handle.

Very happy so far!

Kaliskil -

Like most of you, I researched and researched which model to buy. Our older model Dolphin DX3 died, and there were some things I hoped to improve on with a new purchase. The old machine used to occasionally get stuck in the corners of our lazy L shaped pool with a liner. Though it cleaned well, it seemed to scrub a little too much in some places and eventually left faded scrub marks on the liner. An important feature of the Triton PS for us are the side jets that prevent the machine from getting stuck and keep it moving freely as it cleans. The easy top load access and the swivel cord were also important. We demo'd a couple of more expensive models and they did not climb the walls of the deep end of our pool. Seems the angle from the bottom to mid way up the wall confused them - none would climb all the way to the waterline. The Triton PS has not had that issue! It has done great! It scrubs up to the waterline and picks up leaves and small sticks on the bottom. It's a great machine for those who do not care about an app or steering the machine. We are happy with the once a day option or just pushing a button if we want it to run again.. It does very well. If this machine lasts for more than a few years i'll be very happy. It has exceeded my expectations so far and was one of the less expensive models.

Very nice machine. Glad I bought this model.

OPI -

I have an in ground plaster pool about 30 by 25 feet free form. I have used the Triton for 4 one hour cycles and each time it has cleaned the floor and walls pretty well. Emptying the collection basket is super easy, as is rinsing the filter screens. The cord had not become tangled or twisted. It also is able to climb up to the shallow shelf and clean that. Was concerned it would not be able to climb walls and steps but it has been great doing this. The water jets really do seem to press the unit against the walls when it climbs. When at the top of the wall it hovers there for a short while scrubbing the trim tile. Really nice. We also have a Poolfergnoogan (Spelling) suction side cleaner for the normal day to day cleaning. The Triton puts the debris into its collection basket rather than into the pool pumps strainer. So it keeps the pump running longer between servicing.

Very Impressed - Really like this robot

JME -

I bought the Triton Plus with PowerStream. I used to have another pool robot that just sucked water and didn't have the sweeper. I paid around $500 for it years ago and it was a pain in the butt. It was hard to clean the filter (had a bag that you had to fit around 2 metal bars), it would often only do half of the pool, rarely climbed the walls, etc.. The motor broke after about 2.5 years and cleaned the pool myself for about a year or so. Finally decided to buy this robot after trying to learn about different models and brands (different for brick and mortar vs online). Even though I paid almost twice as much for this robot, I have to say that I am very impressed. It cleans the whole pool every time, it climbs the walls and scrubs the water line, the filter is super easy to clean (just pull from top and spray with hose...kinda like a pool fitler). I haven't used the bluetooth app yet so no comment. The only negatives so far is that it doesn't by default come with a caddy, and even though it has climbed the stairs of my pool I still have to sweep the stairs prior to running the unit.

Excellent | Glad to Have Purchased this

HW -

Over the years, we have gone through several types of pool cleaners. Most would get clogged easily, clog the filters, etc. then we hired a pool service charging $200 per month. Looking for another option! This was our first purchase of a robotic pool cleaner and we LOVE it. Throw it in the pool and 2 hours later, the pool is spotless....do that once or twice a week and we are good to go. Also, love that is scrubs the walls and steps! The first time we ran it, it picked up things that we did not even see. The best thing is that we don't have to go through the laborious task of cleaning pool filters as often.

Robert G. Freeman -

We have a large pool and lots of trees that like to feed it. Bought this after some research and its awesome. Cleans the thing great, including the walls and entry stairs. The only problem it seems to have is with the corners on the deep end... I think it's to large to handle them well. I brush them down once a week and all is well. Easy to clean too! I would buy this again.

Great Tech leap from my old robots.

Tansey -

I have used these robots for 15 years. This is the nicest tech jump by far. The top loading basket makes cleaning it out SOOOOO much easier. The changeable filter to mesh panels are really cooly. Having the mesh for heavy clean up has been great. I have not used the filter panels yet, but I am jazzed about this little guy so far. p.s. I am a tech cynic after working in development for 15 years, but I have to say this is a nice design and the powerstream which I expected to be junk to up sale the product actually functions well. It is cool to watch the powerstream "thrusters" kick in and move the robot.

Great cleaner for a deep free-form pool with built-in benches

Erik A. Friedrich -

Our pool is over 10 feet deep and it has two built in benches and a sun deck. This guys cleans it all. We have been longtime owners of an older model dolphin cleaner which lasted nearly 5 years. We were hoping to replace our old “mobi” (that’s what we call him) with an upgrade that we could count on. We’ve had our new mobi for about a month now and we love him. This cleaner spends a lot more time in the tile line and the jets on the side help blow off areas around the tile area he’s working on. The new programmable control box has really made life easier and he comes on and gets to work everyday or every other day right on time. We have two evil trees on either end of our pool but he gobbles up all of the debri with ease. The top load huge basket has made life easier too. The basket has a drop bottom so we can easily compost the debri he gathers then just spray off the screens. We use the spring cleanup screens to get the big debri and once the leaves and seeds stop falling we switch to the corrugated cartridges. And man! Does he hug the walls and floor! Our old mini would fall down the wall. So far, he’s better than expected. The cord does tend to get a little twist in it after a couple uses but it is easy to unwind and we’ve found that if you limit his cable to just what he needs this is a minimal occurrence. We are happy with our purchase. The money we spent was worth the peace of mind!

It is very easy to use and does a good job of cleaning the small particles but it has a hard time picking up large leaves . We have only had it a month so hopefully it will last for several summers.

Great cleaner for the money. The easiest one to clean that I've owned.

Lois Holleman -

When I first placed the robot into my pool, it was just so-so as far, as pool cleaners go, and it wouldn't climb the sides. After a complete cycle, the robot apparently "broke in" like a pair of shoes. It now climbs, cleans and makes pool maintenance so much easier!

This worked much better than my old Polaris with booster pump

DJT -

This worked much better than my old Polaris with booster pump. It climbs walls and gets most areas of the pool. I still have to brush the top step and a few areas where the plaster bottom meets the vertical fiberglass walls. Much less than I was doing before. The fine filter gets the dirt and dust, but not the heavier granules that wash in from my composite shingles after a heavy rain. The normal filters don't get the fine dust and dirt, so I have to change them after it rains. The Amazon description said there was a $50 rebate when I bought mine, which was not accurate. I see they have corrected that now.

Omg! Why did we waited so long to buy this? Great economical working pool cleaning robot

AF -

Works like a charm after several days of hardwork for the opening of the pool. This is very good value for our 25000 gallons pool. It is a bit slow but the scrubbing power is excellent. After using for two months we found the disadvantage is it cannot be programmed to go in a specific pattern path to clean and scrub. It kind of go in a random route. Our pool is a Gracian with 14 angular shaped with 3 steps. I have to briefly sweep the steps and deep angles turns area every morning to avoid more bags of shocks to clear the algae. If we have to look for a manual remote controlled cleaning dolphin we have to upgrade to a Dolphin Oasis model that is 500 dollars more.

Adequate but not as good as our old Dophin D3.

Tamela Doyle -

I like the design & I love how easy the basket is to take out and clean...much better than the old cloth inserts. However, it misses a lot of spots in our large rectangular pool. Even with the filters in for the finer dirt and sand we still have several places in our pool that have dirt on the floor & walls even after I run it for two cleaning cycles. It's not horrible, but it's definitely not as good as our older Dolphin D3 that died after six years.

Was sent an older model that didn’t have a swivel. The seller arranged for a partial credit. I like the unit and it does a good job. Make sure that the cable is straight before putting in the pool.

Really good product

CJ -

I had just opened the pool a week before Memorial Day and it was green, been there before and know what it takes to clean. While I was running the pump and putting the chemicals in I knew in the end I have to clean the bottom of the pool from the algae but I got the Dolphin cleaner and ran it 6-7 times cleaning out the basket each time and was so pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. Now I have the finer filter in and run it three times a week and wow! It’s great.

Better than my Polaris, but not magic

Scott -

My Polaris 280 is such a pain to tune, I haven't been able to get it out of the deep end for the past year despite new wheels and bearings. As you might imagine, the shallow end is gross and covered with algae and leaves from the winter. This robot plows right through the scum and picks up... some of it. It is not filling the basket the way the Polaris could fill its bag with leaves, but it is scrubbing the floor clean and covering 80-90% of the pool with each run. Using just the coarse filters I'm getting about an inch of algae scum and some leaves with each 3 hour cycle. More importantly, it's stirring up the scum so the pool filter can do some work cleaning the water. I don't hate it, but it's not as great as I was led to believe. It is a vast improvement over the Polaris for coverage however. It does lose power pretty quickly as it gets clogged. For a super dirty pool like mine, it would probably be better to clean the basket out every hour instead of every three. It also jams up the turbine pretty easily with hair (my dogs like the pool). I've had to remove hairballs from the turbine after every two passes (my pool is really dirty). Cleaning out the turbine is easy, just two stainless steel screws to remove and then everything else unclips with your fingers. I do worry about cross-threading those screws in the plastic so be careful putting them back in. Once the turbine and basket are cleaned it climbs the walls like new again. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and have run it about eight times in the last couple days trying to get my pool ready for summer.

Hard Working Fella.

RT -

had an older model of Maytronics Dolphin robotic pool cleaner with a filter bag. That bag was really hard to clean. This new model came with major improvement: removable filter basket. Cleaning this robot is no longer a huge task taking more time than cleaning the pool itself. Washing filters is now a breeze. And this might be the single best feature of this robotic pool cleaner. Cleaner comes with 2 sets of removable filters: fine (plastic mesh) and superfine (pleated filter, similar to HEPA v

vacuum filter). Fine filter is good enough to pickup smallest debris from your pool. It just can's keep dust and finest powder left after chlorinating the pool. So when you need to clean your pool from leafs, buds, flowers, bugs, etc. fine filter will do a good job. For crystal clear results you will need a superfine filter set. That one picks up even the fine dust from the bottom of your pool. And as I already mentioned, after you remove your robot from the pool, you just need to open the top cover, remove the filter basket with all debris picked up by the cleaner, detach those filters and rinse them with water. Also, unlike the older model, new Triton does not spit picked up debris back into the pool. This was a big problem for the old model. Now commenting on negative reviews here. Those guys are probably right. This robotic cleaner is not perfect. My pool is relatively small and shallow and it has a non-standard curvy shape. And even I have to agree with some other guys here: Triton may skip an area during its 2 hours cleaning cycle. It does not have a well setup cleaning pattern, so some areas are cleaned multiple times, while others may be skipped. It does not clean curvy areas well and gets confused by curved walls. It does climb walls and scrubs the waterline, but while on the curve that is pretty useless, since its brush doesn't even reach curved wall. So if your pool is big and mostly curved, it might be difficult for this robot to clean it well. Also if you are expecting a perfect result from this little guy, you may be disappointed. But there is one important thing: it works while you enjoy a beer and a football game on your TV. And you can't beat that. If you are not 100% happy with the result of its original cleaning, throw him back into the pool. He's not tired and won't charge you overtime. So it may take 4 hours before you see your pool perfectly clean, but it won't be your 4 hours. And that is what I love the most about this robot

Just buy the cart when you purchase the unit

Deana -

Bought this to replace a worn-out pool-pump associated robot. This unit was very pricey so I had big expectations as a result. It delivers speed and suction. The pool looks good in 1-2 hours. It is easy to use as well. It lost a star for not having the cart with it. The unit technically operates without a cart and you can store it upside down between uses BUT since you can't leave it in the sun or on the ground unless upside down (with something under it unless you want the top scratched) and there's a long cord and the unit itself is heavy, most people who can afford this unit will not fool with the aggravation of not having a cart long-term to save $100. It lost a second star for not doing a good job on corners or where the pool bottom meets the sidewalls - I have to brush those now and the old unit did not leave that.

Got this just under two weeks ago and have been running it every few days. We have a fairly small rectangular fiberglass pool, about 16,000 gallons. This vacuum gets the pool cleaner, but often misses leaves at the bottom and other debris. Still better than manually vacuuming, but a little disappointed. The feedback and instructions on setting up the programming also is a bit lacking. I know this can be programmed to run daily, every other day, or every three days (and that's it, with no connection to bluetooth or any other programming), and it still seems to miss plenty of stuff on the pool (which is usually pretty clean to start with). It also recommends not to leave the robot in the pool while adding chemicals or while swimming, so the auto-programming every few days doesn't make a ton of sense. Lastly, the control unit states it's not waterproof, so I don't like to leave it outside where it can get rained on, which also seems like a bit of a poor design. I don't plan to submerge it, but at least having it water resistant and seriously splash proof would be suggested. I wonder if others just say screw it and leave it outside and connected all the time.

I purchased my Dolphin on Amazon and received it March 19,2019 opened my pool April 27th used for 2 cleaning cycles and the cleaner stopped I thought it was finished unplugged and stored the power box in the dry. The next day when I went to use my cleaner the power box would not come on. I tested the outlet to make sure the box was getting power and it was. I have emailed tech support twice with no response. Over all the dolphin cleaned well, easy to empty I am a returning dolphin customer but not being able to reach someone and get a reply is frustrating. I have even searched the website to troubleshoot with no luck. For the price you have to pay you might want to think about looking into some other pool cleaning device if getting a return reply on a question is this hard.

A good cleaner, some new options are awesome, but lacks control and tanglefree cord - upgrade and save the headaches.

LPKrier -

Trying to replace my first Dolphin, I ordered this unit by mistake. It only has one option to clean: setup weekly cleaning 3, 4 or 7 times a week. You cannot control the unit. No quick clean, no regular clean etc. The instructions mention all the features you don't get. The cord tangles with each use. The unit does not clean the spa, except for the floor, not the seat. If you try to call customer service, they only keep East Coast hours and NEVER return your call. After a week, I finally got an email, answering 1 of 4 questions. Very annoying. There are features that are awesome: quick drain (unlike last unit that dumped all the dirt back in the pool, this one quickly empties and retains the dirt), the top-loading basket (retains dirt, easy to rinse out and you don't have to turn it upside-down to empty) and super light (anyone in the family can easily remove from the pool). I returned this unit for the PS PLUS to get all the options my 3 year old unit had.

Very dissapointing, don't waste your money.

Q.R. -

This is a big step down from the older models. It's supposed to be an improvement but it falls way short. The antitangle algorithm is utter nonsense. The power cable gets tangled within a few days of having it in the pool. The older model with the antitwist device in the cable was far superior. I have to detangle the cable weekly. It's a massive pain. This machine will also get caught on the bottom drain. The older machine never had that problem. This review would be a one start if not for the larger top loading filter and the fact that it doesn't drain dirty water back into the pool when you pull it out of the water. Overall very disappointing. Don't waste your money.

This is a beautiful robotic cleaner. It vacuums extremely well when it works. Mine worked one time and now it won’t turn on. Dropped it off at my local pool company today for diagnostics. Remains to be seen what it will cost me to get my brand new equipment working again. I bought it off season and didn’t open it for 6 months so now it is too late to simply return it for replacement/refund.

Works at least as well as I had hoped for. Does a better job than I can do manually. Climbs the walls and cleans the water lines. Picks up acorns and twigs. Smartphone remote feature very limited and would be easy to live without. Never use it. Pool Zoom customer service very good.

The Dolphin Triton Plus w/PS works as advertised. My 16'x33' in-ground pool has a sand filter system, and the water is clearer and the pool is cleaner than with the old manual pool cleaner. Though this robot is remote controllable with a Bluetooth smartphone app, I've never needed it because the robot hasn't missed any noticeable spots. If I'd known how thorough this unit was at the time of purchase, I'd probable have opted for the model without remote capability and saved a couple hundred dollars. Who knows; it might come in handy eventually. All in all, this is a very impressive robotic pool cleaner, and I highly recommend it.

After many hours of researching and calling Maytronics, chatting to Ray at poolzoom I decided to buy the Triton PS Plus. So far I’m really happy with this pool robot. My pool is still new only had water in it for 45 days and screened in so it’s spotless. I bought this to help me keep it that way. Well as people have said it’s hard to keep up with it’s pattern. My main purpose is for it to brush the pool and scrub the tile. I find myself watching it constantly, I started to wonder if it would get the whole pool line, to my surprise every time I use it it amazes more. I opened the acid bottle to put acid in the pool and a piece of the paper seal dropped in the pool. The next night I dropped her in and 2 hours I opened up the filter and there the piece of seal was. If I had to manually vacuum the pool I’d never get the whole pool as there’s no trail to follow. You can’t see the fine sand on the floor from the pavers after rain it gets it all. As for the stairs it does the face of the top stair and the lower stairs, it doesn’t go onto the top stair as it’s too shallow. I’ve taking multiple videos of it scrubbing the waterline and show everyone. Great product. The app isn’t anything to write home about.

Works just as described. I have a 20 x 40 vinyl pool and it cleans the entire surface in 2 hours. It does a great job climbing walls. I'll be interested to see how it holds up over time. The only improvements would be to include the caddy and add more cleaning mode options- it's only 1 or 2 hours with this version. Sometimes if the pool is exceptionally dirty 3 hours would be perfect.

Amazing cleaner. It gets my irregular shaped pool 100% clean in 2 hours, one cleaning cycle. My Polaris was not as good and my Aquabot was all sorts of horrible in many many ways. I try to keep the Triton out of water when not in use but it reguarly stays in there for days on end in the fall or when there is an overload of tree debris. The remote is awesome but never need to use it. The large basket is the best I have seen and super easy to clean out. The cord does coil a lot even when I uncoil it, but honestly its been a breeze to deal with and it seems to self coil easily when I stow it away and unravels fine. Overall: best cleaner imo.. I also feel other Dolphin/Maytronics cleaner which look similar, will function the same!

We love it! The pool cleaner works fantastic, and since we received it my husband no longer had to spend hours scrubbing the pool with so-so results. The robot is reliable and deeply cleans the walls of the pool. We were never able to get this result when we were doing it manually. Now, touching the liner with the hand, i no longer get the 'squishy' touch caused by the tiny alguae that would otherwise stick to the wall. The pleasant surprise was how fast the pool was to re-open and clean this spring: after 2 robot cleans and one night, the pool came out blue-ish right away! In comparison, the previous year it took us 2 weeks of time and many hours of work to get there. The robot is super easy to hangle and light to carry over into the pool. We bought the carriage to ease the handling and this has prooved to be a good decision: it's easier to store and install the robot. I recommend it without any reservations, we are super satisfied and it saved us countless hours of tidious maintenance work do far.

I can't imagine cleaning my pool any easier. Due to age and health, I can't lift much weight, but this thing is light. I put it into the pool, push the button and 2 hours later(also has a 1 hour "Quick" cycle) I pull it out of the pool. The filters are amazingly easy to rinse off. The robot even keeps its cord from tangling automatically. I was AMAZED at how clean it got my tiles. I had been scrubbing them with cleaner and a green scour pad days before buying this robot, but was less than halfway done. After only one cleaning cycle the tiles I had not cleaned yet were as clean as the ones I had cleaned!!!! I used a Polaris 280 before this robot, so I'm spending about $500 yearly on electricity. This robot pays for itself. It's smart as well. My fiberglass pool has a built in seat and the Polaris 280 Never cleaned it. This robot gets it and the wall behind it!!!! When I realized how much money my booster pump Polaris 280 was costing me, I didn't hesitate to buy a robot (7 cents per hour for 2 hours about 3 times a week is only 42cents per week or about $22 per year vs $500 per year with my booster pump). I'm very happy.

The dolphin works great! I live in an area where we had extreme fires and mudslides (debris flows). When I have the slightest breeze, old fire ash and dust blow into my pool. I have owned two Aquabot pool cleaners and have found this one to work much better at keeping my pool in good shape. The Aquabot cleaners (Aquabot and Aquabot turbo) had flaws in design that annoyed me such as the clips that hold the filter bag in. Those clips allowed dirt picked up by the cleaner to leak back into the pool because they didn't hold well enough.

Wow, I used to have to vacuum my pool and it would never be "clean." Now, all I do is turn it on and the pool has never been cleaner. It's literally the best thing that has ever happened to my pool. Amazing! This vacuum is 10 times better than the similar style one I had before it. Usually I would vacuum through the pool pump after uncovering the pool and on occasion throughout the season. With this new dolphin triton vac I threw it in right after the cover came off, I had no time to vacuum by hand and thought I would put it to the test. The pool was up and ready in record time. I’m putting the cover back on this week and I never even touched the manual vac. It’s an old (60years), large 50,000 gal concrete pool with quick transitions to vertical. It has many old trees in the surrounding Area ( lots of leaves, and one of the skimmers doesn’t work) This was the first season, but I believe it will serve well for many to come. The Bluetooth remote did not work well for me but thankfully I didn’t really need it.

I have had poor results with both suction-side vacuums and one robotic cleaner since moving to Arizona with lots of dirt and dust. Returned most everything I have tried. After several huge dust storms I was ready to try again, and decided upon the Dolphin Triton Plus Cleaner with PS and Bluetooth. An impressive first week! Pool floor was a desaster after storms, LOTS of leaves, debris and what can only be described as an inch of mud on the bottom. This cleaner has done a great job so far and after only a few days we had a perfectly clean pool again. Bluetooth works great for that odd spot or leaf that has not been sucked up. I would highly recommend this cleaner. Our pool is over 20,000 gallons with the deep end measuring 9.5 feet. This sucker, (no pun intended) climbs steepest walls right to the tile with no complaints. I would not pay extra for that feature. Exceptionally quiet, does a thorough job. Very easy to clean the filters. Did not come with the second set of filters that was promised. We got a package with no identifying information later that had a filter, but does not fit this unit. Not having debris go through the pump is a huge improvement. It does not have a caddy, but I hook it on the wall and store the cord in a simple electric cord reel, and that is tidy.

So Far AWESOME

Otter -

First Impression: Let me say that I live in the Desert Southwest where natural pool temperatures will reach 90 F with no help from any extra equipment. We had a few days of bad wind and copious amounts of the associated dirt and leaves were carried into the pool. I like to use a robot for pool cleaning since the debris is NOT collected in the pool filter, but trapped and removed by the robot. I threw my 9 Year old Nitro robot into the pool to clean it. It failed to run, the first problem in 9 ye

ars, but in searching the internet, that brand/style was no longer manufactured. It looked really tired too and decided it was time for a new robot. I shopped and analyzed and compared and finally decided on the Dolphin Triton PS Plus so I ordered it. In the meantime, getting a little green tint, I checked the pool chemicals. My chlorine had dropped to ZERO and the dirt debris had shot my phosphates up to 300 ppm. The chlorine problem turned out to be a bad circuit board on my chlorine generator. I threw in a floater with a couple of chlorine tablets, three packets of shock and 80 ml of PR-10000. So now in addition to the dirt/debris on the pool bottom, the phosphate particulate from the PR-10000 put another layer of chum on the bottom of the pool. The next day the PR-10000 and chlorine shock had cleared all the green. The day after that, my Triton arrived. The Dolphin Triton PS Plus is shipped pretty much ready to go with both a fine and extra fine filter media to choose from. I chose to run it with the fine media installed. The filter is shaped like a rectangular pail with filter panels on four sides. All you do is unroll the cord and drop it in the pool, connect the cord to the control panel which stays adjacent to the pool on the deck. Press the power button on the control panel and it completes a two hour cleaning cycle. This unit also cleans the walls which my old Nitro did not do. A strong jet of water holds it against the pool walls while it climbs. The Triton moves a lot more water than my old Nitro which allows it to climb the walls, move along the wall, and also filter more water. I ran it through two cleaning cycles in a row. It worked AWESOME! The fine filter media is a smooth plastic screen material. When dirty, it cleans up 10 times easier than my old Nitro which had the diaper bag type filter. Just remove the basket from the Triton, click open the bottom of the filter basket and dump out the debris into the trash. Finish the cleaning job with a few squirts from the hose. I imagine the extra fine filter media, which is pleated, will take a little more effort to clean it, but I haven’t tried it yet. I also noticed that the cleaning basket is pretty tall, so even with a lot of gunk in it, there is plenty of clear media higher up on the basket to allow for good water flow through the Triton. When I pulled in the Triton to set it onto the deck to clean the filter, I purposely kept all the cord twists moving toward the Triton. I noticed that the new cord swivel which is located near the cleaning head had removed all the twists I pushed toward it and the cord came out of the water twist free. I haven’t tried the bluetooth remote features or the cleaning scheduler on the control panel, but I will update this review when I have used the product for a while, but for right now, as a pool cleaner, FIVE STARS. It did a great job cleaning up my dirty pool

Replaced a Polaris with Triton Plus

RL -

Replaced a Polaris P93 witch this Dolphin Triton Plus- what a difference! The Triton Plus does a much better job. I opened the box it was delivered in and had itceaning the pool in less than 5 minutes. Only drawback is that it does not come with a caddy but I modified the caddy that I had for my Polaris by building a deck out of scrap plywood and it now works great as a caddy for the Triton Plus. I highly recommend this cleaner to all. A++++

Great first impression for my new pool cleaner

B. Yesner -

So far so good on the first impression. Bought this a few weeks ago to replace an aging Dolphin Dynamic Pro. When I first opened my pool a few days ago, the pool was filthy. This cleaner did a great job over the last few days. I do really like what Maytronics did with the filter basket system vs the former bag system. It is so much easier to clean. So far, I am very happy with my purchase. Please see my before and after photos. As they say, a picture is worth a 1,000 words.

My First Robotic Cleaner

Lee Montoya -

Let first say that I love this robotic cleaner! It cleans very well. It is very easy to use and clean. I only have two complaints. Only one is in regards to the cleaner. My first complaint is tha the patented cord swivel is a little tight causing the cord to still tangle. If you take your sweep out daily or every other day, this is not a problem. I purchased a pool deck storage box on Amazon to keep my sweep out of direct sunlight when not in use. I also mounted the controller in side the box to keep it out of direct sunlight when the sweep is active to prolong its life. My second complaint which is not directed towards my Dolphin Triton Plus, is that Maytronics has way to many Dolphin robotic cleaners/sweeps to choose from. Please narrow down the choices to the best models in 3 price ranges. They should be budget $500-$750, Advanced $751-$1000, and Pro $1001-+. Please no more than 3-5 units in each category. I almost did not purchase due to the confusion. I am really glad I purchased my unit. Well good luck if you are reading this and shopping.

Amusing but effective workhorse keeps my 40’ free-form pool spick and span

This is our 3rd week of using the Triton PS Plus in our new swimming pool. Before this we were cleaning the pool manually and by a company on a weekly contract – but that was not enough. The Triton PS Plus robot saved the day and the bank. We are running the bot every other day (lot of leaves at this time of the year in NY), it works tirelessly without ever getting stuck, picks up basketful of leaves and dust/mud – keeps the pool very clean. It is cool to watch the unit work at a random motion, but ultimately picking up everything from the pool floor.

Pretty good

We’ve had our Dolphin Triton Plus for a few weeks now and I’d say it’s pretty good. It scrubs and cleans, but I was hoping more for robotic/systematic clean rather than random. We have an extremely large pool and there are areas it seems our robot even avoids...lol. I do like it though, it saves me time and money.

Time saver

Sandra Melo -

It saved us so much time! I really love to just put it in the water and less than 2 hours later, the cleaning is done. No problem with tangling cord as some reviews said here. It is not a 100% perfect cleaning though. It doesn't clean well around the steps (and neither the steps), which I expected. And because our pool has an irregular shape, we have to "direct" the cleaning to some spots at the end (moving the robot over a specific area and turning it on there for a better cleaning). I am okay doing that so I think it was a good purchase

Awesome machine, not for my pool though.

George MB -

This is an awesome cleaner no doubt, Unfortunately my pool type isn't meant for this machine as the Fan motor in on the back of the cleaner. I have a bowl style pool, so its deeper in the center of the pool. When the cleaner would move up the angled floor the fan would just push any dirt or debris all over the pool before it had a chance to clean that area. I had to return to purchase one with the fan motor on top, much like my previous model the nautilus.

A delay on the remote controll used twice as of now will see how long it will actually last and update review. Better remote use than auto. Clean a 15by 30x40 kidney pool in 30 minutes.

Works great but cord tangles

James M. Reid Jr. -

I have had this pool cleaner for 6 months. It climbs the walls great and cleans my pool entirely. The only drawback is that the cord tangles no matter what I do. Every other day I need to untangle it. I am worried about what will happen when I go on vacation for a week or two.

Corners, steps, and debris can pose a challenge

Gary A Vickery -

I’m extremely happy with the overall product, but I generally have to run two complete cycles to get everything clean. I suppose in the grand scheme, it’s still better than manually vacuuming, but for the price - it’ll earn 4 stars.

Keep the vacuum fan clean and this product works well.

Dan Miemczewski -

Have had the product for about a week. Very dirty pool. Decided to see how it handles it. Handled very good in my mind. I had a bunch of leaves and dirt. It took several times. I did have to clean the vacuum fan out a few times but other than that this product worked as advertised. If it keeps my pool clean all summer then I say it’s worth that price tag. Blue tooth feature leaves allot to be desired, but what I did like was the warning sign telling me the fan was blocked.

Capacity great! Remote control not so great !

Christopher S -

I’ve had this robot for three weeks now initially I was elated not having to drag out the hose and vacuum the pool it did a pretty good job getting most spots. I’m still happy but it has some warts. The literature says it has an algorithm to prevent tangling of the cord it must be the rhythm method they’re using because it does not work... the cord will get tangled after a couple cleaning..but not a big deal this unit does not learn the pool or have a memory or dirt sensor as far as I can tai

l it just goes in a random pattern and eventually gets most areas are usually clean large capacity it will get stuck on the drain or occasionally get confused and shut down The remote control feature is next to useless you may as well grab the hose and hit the spot you want yourself controlling this thing is difficult It does not turn like a car it has a jet on the top that holds it to the bottom as the unit is essentially neutrally buoyant it does not turn like a car it has a jet on the top that holds it to the bottom... it turns by turning off that jet so the ass end of robot comes off the bottom of the pool and then it apply as a side jet to swing the robot in a different position... very awkward and hard to control... you don’t know which way is front backwards left or right while using the remote. You can’t custom programming timing you can do once a day and once every two days or once every three days but you can’t control specifically what time it starts it’s basically 24 hours or 48 hours or 36 hours from the time you push the button to clean. It does clean the water edge somewhat but it does not travel around the perimeter for more than a foot or two before it decides to go in another direction... it will make it up the stairs and sometimes get stuck and shut off I have a son shelf which is about a foot deep it makes it up there and gets confused also and shuts off overall it is so nice to come home to a pool that’s almost clean I would not waste my money on the remote control feature which is frustrating to use but the basket is very easy to clean and has a high capacity overall give this four star

One month later

JD -

Here's my take one month later... Initial feelings after one week had me considering whether the unit was worth the money and other positive reviews, even wondering if it should be replaced with another manufacturer. However, after one month plus, I'm glad I kept it and many of the recent posts are reflective of my own experience. Pool is an 18 x 42 vinyl pool- lots of sun and few trees to contend with other then the typical dropping of leaves we deal with in the Northeast in the Fall. I'm sure at that point a true vacuum will be needed. Unit is run daily given the low operating costs and overall does a great job. Climbing stairs is rare, but expected. Very rare that the cord gets tangled. As for user experience with the app... Nothing fancy is an understatement. While the app was recently updated, it gives you the ability to turn the unit on from a decent distance away, control it manually, and that's it. Would love to see a few other options on that front that would closer mimic that of the actually control box, but I guess Rome wasn't built in a day. Cleaning the basket is easier then swapping out the different filters. The lack of 5 stars is due to the smartphone app. Other then that, unit is worth the rating I gave.

Replaced the pool boys!

BP -

This replaced a pool service & a Barracuda vacuum for my 20K gallon pool after the vac port wall fitting cracked and fell out. I wasn't impressed with the suction cleaner, and I always had to tweak the pump speed to get it to work right. No hiccups in the 3 months I've owned it. Throw it in the pool 1-2 times/week. It gets most of the dirt, except in the corners and steps. It doesn't seem to climb the steps, so I have to brush the debris off into the pool. Has no problems climbing the walls and seems to get most of the waterline. It's so easy to empty and clean the basket when it's done cleaning. Much better than a suction cleaner sucking everything into the filter. Overall, very happy with this vacuum and my pool is so much cleaner than the several pool services I've been through.

After a year still happy with my purchase

J. Parker -

I bought this unit a year ago and used it extensively throughout the first summer and several times during the winter months. So far it has performed very well although it does skip some sections of the pool as reported by others. The collection basket is large and will hold a lot. During the Fall I've seen it fill up completely with leaves before stopping to pick up debris. I empty regularly and clean the built in screens with the hose prior to storage and so far everything has held up well. Recently, our new puppy chewed a hole in the power cord putting the Dolphin on the side lines and demoting me to pool cleaner. To be perfectly honest I never fully appreciated the Dolphin until I was delegated the tasks of scrubbing and vacuuming. I finally repaired the issue and put the Dolphin back to work and after the first day you can tell a huge difference between how well I clean and the amazing job the Dolphin does. Since I can sit in the shade and enjoy a cold drink while it does the dirty work, I'm ok with the occasional need to push some debris into its path that it may miss. It's also relatively amusing to connect wirelessly and drive it around using mobile app, but I prefer just watching it do its job autonomously.

The good, bad & ugly

S White -

I decided to purchase a robotic cleaner because I finally tired of hauling out, hooking up & fighting with the vacuum hose weekly. I liked the Triton+ model because it indicated it would clean the sides and waterline of the pool. After a couple of months usage, I decided to write a review. Well, here are the things I like: It cleans the bottom of the pool quite nicely, sucking up leave and other debris quite effectively; it's easy to empty out the large capacity debris basket....one big basket instead of two smaller ones on other models; the basket is easily accessible from the top; it's programmable to automatically run up to 3 times per week; it does fairly well on the waterline but not 100% coverage; the anti-tangle programming does OK but I still pull it out and untwist the cord once a week or so. Here's what I find lacking: It doesn't clean the walls very well at all...only about 30% coverage (I still have to brush them down about every other week...and wall cleaning was one of the main reasons I had for getting it); manual navigation using the smart-phone app is very awkward...the unit steers itself by going in reverse, popping a wheelie and then the side water jets turn it left or right accordingly. These turns can be anywhere from 10-15 degrees to beyond 90 degrees. Manual steering takes some practice, timing and finesse determining when to release the turn while the unit is in the middle of executing its wheelie turn. All in all though, I still don't have to haul out the hose or scoop out leaves with the pole net so I still think it's a good purchase.

Great Investment For Pool Cleaning

Brian LaFontaine -

A great pool cleaner! We have a L-shaped pool with about 25,000 gallons of water. I used to vacuum every morning for about 15 - 20 minutes. My biggest concern was when we were away - how would we keep the pool clean? Tried the Shark which works off the vacuum of the filtration system. Leaving this in the pool for a week did a pretty good job but it always wanted to stay in the deep end leaving the shallow end dirty. It also reduces the suction of the skimmers so leaves were not skimmed off the t

op of the water well at all. And, it had a tendency to get 'stuck' on certain floor to wall angles. It sufficed but had to be something better. Lots of research and I came up with the Dolphin Triton Plus. Lots of money but I can now say it appears to be worth every penny. After a few weeks of using I find that it has 'learned' the layout of the pool and seems to cover the complete square footage in the 2 hour session. If some spots are missed I just set to the 'fast' mode which takes about an hour but just does flat surfaces, not the walls. Speaking of walls - this thing can climb! It gets up just out of the waterline to completely clean the side walls. The only place it cannot pull dirt from are the angles of the vertical walls in the deep end. Part of this is because the dirt collects around a few vinyl patches I have there and since this does not 'vacuum' with suction but 'rolls' the dirt in it cannot get flush with the angles. So, I vacuum once a week to get those areas - no big deal. Though I have left it in for several days using the 'auto' feature where you set it to run once a day for 7 days I have not been away from the property so it will be interesting to see how it performs. The collection reservior is generous in size and should be able to handle collection for a week unless we have a big storm and lots of stuff gets into the pool. I have not really played with the bluetooth and app at this point but others have said it performs well. I find it just as easy to use the control box to start/stop and input settings. I do have to say my pool appears cleaner than ever. This is probably due to the scrubbing the Dolphin gives the sidewalls and waterline. Oh, it is pretty light and easy to manipulate. Only time it is 'heavy' is when you pull out and have to let the water drain. I would highly recommend anyone's consideration

Not as good as I hoped! Returned.

Zagueiro -

I had high hopes for this pool cleaner after watching youtube videos and reading reviews. I returned it because it didn't do what I thought it would do. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: 1) it travels well and climbs the walls all the way to the water line, 2) it has a convenient basket with good filters including a fine filter for algae, 3) it is easy to clean. Cons: 1) it cannot be the only source of filtration (at least for my very large pool) because it just can't process enough water to filter algae; I tried to reduce the time that my normal filter ran, but just ended up with cloudy water (yes, my chlorine and pH are optimal and I just changed my water six months ago), 2) you have to pay attention to it every time it runs because you have to empty the basket and clean the filters so it is a little high maintenance, 3) even though it says it covers the entire pool because it learns your pool shape and size, it will not cover each square foot; you will see stripes of green on the walls where it misses or even on the bottom of the pool, 4) it is three times as expensive as the average pool cleaner. I wanted it to be a substitute for my filter, but it cannot take over that job and I still have to brush the sides.

I have to say I am disappointed with this product

John Hansen -

I have to say I am disappointed with this product. It cleans the pool ok(ish), and better than having to pull out the pool vacuum, but it leaves a lot to be desired. For the price I expected alot more. After a month of use I have found the ap is basically useless too. It takes a decade to connect, the manual remote control function has never worked, and there really aren't any other options to control cycles, timing or how long to run the unit. It barely turns it on and off. I'm very disappointed with the ap. The Dolphin is also supposed to do stairs, well, it might climb them once every 3 cycles but it does not remove a spec of dirt from them. The only reason I gave this two stars is because it does pick up a fair bit of debris. My pool is under a number of pine trees so we get lots of fall out in the pool. So I appreciate how much it does get off the bottom. Recently the dolphin has been running short cycles, even though I set it to run full ones. So I'm going to make some adjustments as per the user manual. I hope that helps, I am getting frustrated and debating on finding something better that does what it says. Overall the cleaner does clean 80% of the debris in the pool. For the price, I would not recommend this pool cleaner.

The unit kept shutting off after 45min despite not cleaning most of the pool. The setting claims it will clean for 2 hours but it never did. The Bluetooth control is totally useless. The unit takes forever to turn and needs to pop a wheelie to do it which makes it extremely inaccurate. There is no way you are spot cleaning with the remote. It missed all the corners of the pool as well and never cleaned at the foot of the steps.

Only for small pools

JCSMITH -

I had really high hopes for this but apparently my pool is too large. I have a 20'x40' 3.5' to 9' depth with a 12'x15' 18" shelf. This didn't have enough run time to clean the whole pool. I would do several cycles in a row and it would still miss SEVERAL large areas in the pool. I returned it. If I had a smaller play pool then I probably would have been happy with it. The top access is great, the cleaning power is great, but don't plan on it cleaning the whole pool unless it's small.

Good at cleaning but cable tangle negates any cleaning benefits

Andy -

This cleaner is awesome at cleaning however I'm having to remove the unit from the pool daily and de-tangle the cable, I paid over 1000 for this unit specifically for it anti-tangling feature after having another brand that kept tangling. Maytronics removed the swivel cable in favor of software controlled anti-tangling algorithms however these algorithms DO NOT WORK, I contacted the manufacturer who want me to pay the return shipping cost of ?31 to their facility so they can install swivel cable due to the flawed software. These issues make me reduce my rating to just one star due to this design flaw and subsequent customer service.
